In the realm of corporate dynamics, the structure and governance in place serve as a telling barometer of individual performance. They offer invaluable insights into the alignment of personal objectives with company targets, acting as the compass that guides our quarterly, yearly, and long-term pursuits in realizing the company's vision.
I began my journey as a mere user of these processes and governance protocols. It was an intriguing experience, being meticulously measured against targets. Every salesperson aspires to surpass these benchmarks, and the annual cycle resets the clock to zero, ushering in a fresh start with each new year. During my brief tenure as a Bid and Proposal specialist, I gained firsthand insight into the structural intricacies of crafting compelling offers. Later, alongside my colleagues, I played a pivotal role in introducing a similar system in India. Remarkably, this system still thrives, nearly two decades later, a testament to the enduring power of effective governance and structure.
As my career progressed, I found myself not just using but orchestrating these structures and governance measures on a global scale. This role provided me with a unique opportunity to empathize with the challenges faced by sales professionals when subject to rigorous governance without a comprehensive understanding of the business nuances. Drawing from my experiences, I endeavoured to design processes that not only supported sales but also streamlined their efforts, making tasks more efficient and less arduous. Simultaneously, these processes and governance mechanisms are instrumental in charting the course towards achieving the company's overarching vision and mission.
My involvement in developing and managing these processes and governance spanned all facets of Marketing and Sales. I spearheaded the establishment of the Account Management function for my unit and subsequently facilitated the migration of the division's Marketing and Sales function, including Account Management, into a transformed organizational framework. I oversaw the implementation of essential backend tools such as Power BI, introduced frameworks, and streamlined planning processes, all aimed at minimizing bureaucracy and maximizing time spent with customers.
While some may occasionally find these processes cumbersome, they remain an indispensable component of any organization. They play a pivotal role in propelling us closer to our collective vision. In essence, they are the invisible threads that weave the fabric of our corporate journey, guiding us towards a brighter future.
